The Days Until Calculator counts the calendar days between a start date and a target date. If no start date is supplied, the calculator uses today's local calendar date. It also reports whether the target is upcoming, today, or already past.
How the count is calculated
The selected calendar dates are normalized to midnight UTC before subtraction, which avoids daylight-saving hour changes affecting the whole-day count.
A negative value means the target date has passed. The displayed day total is the absolute value, while the message retains the direction.
Example
From 1 September 2026 to 10 September 2026, the signed difference is 9 days, so the result says there are 9 days until the target date. Reversing those dates reports that the target was 9 days ago.
Counting convention
The calculator measures the gap between two date boundaries. It does not count both endpoint dates as full days. For an inclusive event count, add one to the result when that convention is appropriate.

Does it count weekends and holidays?
Yes. Every calendar day is counted. The calculator does not exclude weekends or public holidays.
What happens when the target date is today?
The result is zero days and the message states that today is the target date.
Can I calculate from a date other than today?
Yes. Enter an optional start date to calculate from a fixed historical or future date.
Limitations
The tool accepts valid YYYY-MM-DD calendar dates and does not handle times of day, time zones, business-day rules, or inclusive scheduling conventions automatically.
